The Nest Family
The nestkeepers, Susan & Raymond Olson, live in the home and will provide you with a safe, secure and exceptional service. You are in good hands.
Raymond graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in psychology. His roots are in the Texas hill country but is grounded in maroon! He is in law enforcement and is a deputy fire marshall. Our home is fully sprinkled! He wears many hats from arson investigator, home builder, police officer and caterer. He is seldom still! He is called Hero around here. You may catch a glimpse of him from time to time; perhaps as often as our resident roadrunner! Raymond gives “hard working work horse” a whole new meaning. His middle initial is E which stands for excellence in all that he does.
Susan is a native of New York City and spent years living in big cities however she found in the country asking herself how in the world did she wound up here! The Rice Hotel in Houston, Texas was home for many years. Growing up in the hotel business is the essence of what she is about – taking care of others is her forte. She and her sister, Nancy, have many great stories to share about the days growing up in a hotel. Room service please! It’s a far cry from raising free range chickens, grooming miniature donkeys every day. It’s exactly where she belongs. What was instilled in her soul is taking care of others; whether its caring for your therapeutic needs in the spa or creating a special breakfast just for you. She is a born again Farm Girl. Being a farm girl to me is not about where you live but how you live. You will find me almost always in the kitchen baking something for you, gathering farm fresh eggs every day when I’m not working with my spa clients, that is. I was honored to work at the 1996 Summer Olympics as one of the 112 therapists selected from over 3,000 applicants. It was the 1st Olympics where the massage therapy team was considered a part of the official medical team. What an experience that was. She was also asked to work on the massage therapy team in Australia but elected not to.

Fishing poles and lures await you… along with a fully stocked pond of fish. You may take them home if you wish or catch and release. It’s up to you. We will do a lot of things for you but we won’t clean your fish.

All accommodation prices include complimentary beverages and wine plus an appetizer add to our guest’s pleasure. This is served between 4-6pm every day.
Amos normally likes sporting his scarves of many seasons. All 6 lbs of him feels it is his duty to be the official greeter of The Nest.
If we hadn’t told you we have a resident cat, you probably would not know it. She keeps to herself outside during the day and has a private sleeping place indoors at night. None of our pets are permitted in any of the guest rooms so please don’t encourage them to sleep with you. Please resist the erge.
Named after Nadia Comaneci, our Nadia is a perfect 10. Tiny, correct and shy. She’s the sweetest, kindest miniature donkey on this earth. She shares well with others. She’d rather be brushed than eat hay any ol’ day. You can love on her until whoever falls asleep first; you or her.
He is named after Raymond’s step brother. Norman was quite the ladies man and affable. This is Norman.
As the name suggests, she is quite the spicy one. She enjoys being in the middle of everything.
He is the son of Ginger. Yes, he is the lively one. You’ll see him running and kicking in the fields for no reason – just because.
Sully was named after the Pilot Sullenberger that landed the plane in the New York Harbor. Like New Yorkers, we were surprised to see “Sully” in the pasture that morning. He was born the day after Sullenberger landed the plane perfectly. Our Sully entered into our world perfectly as well and a surprise.
